Certified Small Animal Veterinary Technician

Job Description:
This position provides an environment where multi-tasking skills are essential and taking initiative is encouraged. Each of our Certified Vet Techs work together as a team with DVMs, and receptionists. We are currently looking for compassionate, dependable, and motivated individuals who like to collaborate with others to provide the best care for pets and great service to clients. Full and part-time positions are available. If you have completed an accredited Vet Tech program and you have not yet become certified, we encourage you to apply and we will support your efforts to obtain certification. Training on-site will be provided.

Education: Graduating from a veterinary technician program
Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Calculate medication dosages and administer prescribed oral, IM, and IV medications including pain meds, sedatives, analgesics, and anesthetics.
  • Induce and monitor surgical gas and injectable anesthetics.
  • Provide surgical and anesthetic assistance/support and monitoring.
  • Assist the surgeon in soft tissue and orthopedic procedures.
  • Perform dental assessments/charting and cleaning.
  • Position and expose radiographs.
  • Communicate clearly between front-desk (admissions & discharges) and your team members to support a smooth flow of patient/client care.
  • Obtain patient history and take vital signs.
  • Provide patient care for in-hospital and boarded animals that require medications.
  • Provide and maintain clear lines of communication between team members.
  • Oversee in-house lab test requests and reference services and assure that these are processed correctly and on time.
  • Perform in-house laboratory tests including UA, fecal, CBC/differential, ear swab cytology, skin scrape cytology.
  • Provide animal restraint.
  • Perform nail trims, venipuncture, and various other technical skills.
  • Maintain aseptic practice standards.
