In our lab we grow bacteria (such as Strep, Staph, Pseudomonas, E.Coli, Bordatella, etc.) from wounds, genital tracts, urine, and respiratory tracts, to see which antibiotic is effective in treatment.

Purposes of Microbiology:

  • Establish a diagnosis
  • Indicate a prognosis and possible complications of the disease
  • Explain the source of infection and the risk of transmission to other animals or humans
  • Aid in the prevention of infection of other animals by identifying the specific product needed for immunization
  • Formulate specific treatment programs
