Another bacterial disease spread by the Deer tick.

The most common symptoms are:

  • Lack of energy
  • High fever
  • Swollen, very painful joints
  • Loss of appetite
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • If left untreated it can lead to:

  • Large decrease in blood platelets and white blood cells
  • Chronic joint pain
  • Neurological signs (rare)

    There is a preventative (Frontline flea and tick – applied monthly) and a treatment for this disease.

    In 2017, of 1237 patients tested, 56 were positive at our hospital.
