Anaplasmosis
Another bacterial disease spread by the Deer tick.
The most common symptoms are:
Lack of energy
High fever
Swollen, very painful joints
Loss of appetite
Vomiting
Diarrhea
If left untreated it can lead to:
Large decrease in blood platelets and white blood cells
Chronic joint pain
Neurological signs (rare)
There is a preventative (Frontline flea and tick - applied monthly) and a treatment for this disease.
In 2017, of 1237 patients tested, 56 were positive at our hospital.
