Lyme Disease
Another bacterial disease spread by the Deer tick.
The most common symptoms are:
Lameness
Fever
Swollen joints
Kidney failure
Depression
Anorexia
If left untreated it can lead to:
Damaged joints
Fatal kidney disease (rare)
There is a preventative (Frontline/Nexgard flea and tick - applied monthly) and a treatment for this disease.
In 2017, of 1237 patients tested, 97 were positive at our hospital.
